Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will reportedly “bring to a climax” the conflict between Jedi and Sith
From Vanity Fair:
“[…] Sources close to the movie say that [The Rise of] Skywalker will at long last bring to a climax the millennia-long conflict between the Jedi Order and its dark shadow, the Sith. […]”
As a reminder, the teaser revealed that Palpatine/Darth Sidious will be back.

Return of the Jedi already did that, as intended and executed by ‘the maker’ himself.
These desperate and cheap attempts to bring the fans they discarded and disparaged back into the fold of this forgettable fan fiction are laughable.

I’d word it differently, but… yes. Sure, we may speculate whether (and if yes, how) GL changed his mind when he decided to make the ST, but as long as the story treatments are not available… (My impression is that the known treatment parts do not tell the whole story.)

i’m not buying that issue after they bashed the prequels in their tfa issue

What Jedi Order? There is no jedi order in the ST! There should’ve been a New Jedi Order since TFA!

luke supposedly started a new jedi order that was wiped out prior to tfa what idiot decided to have another jdei purge? was it because of how they were portrayed in the prequels? did they forget that episode 6 was called return of the jedi?

Exactly. But that’s not the only thing they have forgotten. They forgot Luke’s character and the journey that defined it. They forgot the creative imagination and world-building that Lucas had established with his six movies. Their forgot the philosophical, moral and universal themes that once filled this imaginary world and made it last and resonate with so many. They forgot that the Jedi and their ways are true and well defined, they (like a lot of things Lucas established) are not up for grabs to be discarded or perverted with their own fan misinterpretation.
But that’s what you get when you discard the source material. You get these movies, which are nothing but an void exercise of bastardization on a once timeless franchise.
