Qui-Gon actor Liam Neeson says he hasn’t been approached for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Liam Neeson said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night that he hasn’t been approached to return as Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Of course, this kind of statement should be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe Lucasfilm asked the cast and crew not to reveal certain things for now.

As a reminder, Qui-Gon managed to return as a spirit after his death, although he can’t appear in a physical form. The Jedi Master gets back in touch with his former Padawan learner Obi-Wan between Episodes III and IV, and teaches him the secrets of immortality. The new series is set precisely in this era.

I hope Neeson is lying. It would be silly to waste this perfect opportunity to bring back the great Qui-Gon Jinn on a big Star Wars project.

It’s disappointing to hear that, but is Liam lying here? I also think he could be. His response is a little, well, unserious, wouldn’t you say?

Great interview overall. Too short by half, but it’s fantastic that Liam is looking so well. It’s hard to believe he’s 69!!! As the uppermost comment under the video says:

he is almost at india’s life expectancy age and is still doing stunts, idk if i can ever be able to believe that

A new film about driving an 18-wheeler over an ice road as part of an implausible rescue mission? That premise already screams LIAM NEESON!

Those questions at the end were hilarious, too:

Jimmy: Have you thrown someone from an airplane to their death?
Liam: That’s a good question. I want to say yes, but I can’t remember.
Jimmy: Okay, well what’s your answer then?
    Liam: Er… no.
Jimmy: That is correct, you have not thrown someone from an airplane. Most people have an immediate answer to that question.
