Obi-Wan Kenobi,  Prequel Trilogy

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi behind-the-scenes video released!

Here’s the first official glimpse of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney+ has released a behind-the-scenes video including some story tidbits and concept art.

[UPDATE: the video has been removed from Youtube. It’s an exclusive for Disney+ subscribers.]

The art seems to confirm the presence of the Second Sister, an Imperial Inquisitor who notably appeared in the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

It also confirms that there will be a new lightsaber fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader.

According to Star Wars News Net, this reel was already shown to an audience of Disney investors last year.

UPDATE: Here are all the art pieces:

It kinda does actually. “When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master” still works. Since that refers to ROTS.

“You should not have come back” could refer to anything.

Obi-wan referring to Vader as more machine now than man in ROTJ could be a direct reference to this new encounter.

This biggest issue that this could resolve is in ROTJ when Luke says “Come with me” and Vader replies “Obi -Wan once thought as you do.” Well when was that? Certainly not in ROTS. Padmè wanted him to reject the darkside not Obi was just ready for a fight. If he encounters him again in this show it could make that line make more sense if he starts out pleading with him to reject the darkside.

I completely agree with you, Jim. The “more machine now than man” implies that he’s seen him in person in the suit at the least, if not encountered him. He didn’t just forget about Anakin post-ROTS, he’s have had to learn of his survival at some point, and what better way then through the force?

Some really nice art panels here. My interest in this thing just went up a bit.

However, the ST movies also had really nice artwork done for them, and they turned out (on the whole) to be not quite so eye-watering. Still, in the words of Han Solo: “Let’s keep a little optimism here.”
