Dooku fell due to him being disillusioned with the Republic that the Jedi served. A disillusion that Palpatine/Sidious exploited and used to turn him to the dark side, with the promise of a new government institution that would get rid of the corruption and failures of the Republic and replace it. He didn’t fall because of his family inheritance or some old relics.
