Ahsoka (series),  Prequel Trilogy

The most iconic Star Wars character will be in Star Wars: Ahsoka

The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed that Hayden Christensen will play Anakin Skywalker again in Star Wars; Ahsoka. This upcoming series is set 5 years after Return of the Jedi, so Anakin will certainly appear as a ghost or in flashbacks. Production is set to begin in early 2022.

The relationship between Anakin and his Padawan Ahsoka was at the center of the animated series The Clone Wars, which was supervised by George Lucas. It will be the first time that the two characters interact in live-action.

As a reminder, Christensen will also star as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. It’s great to see him make a big comeback in the licence. And it’s well-deserved, as he perfectly embodied the most iconic Star Wars character in Episodes II and III.

To be fair: Should Anakin appear as a force ghost, you may ask why he did not appear in the ST… Out-of-universe, you can think of several (IMHO not so good) reasons why he did not, but in-universe?

Well, we will have to wait and see.

Well, I’d express it in a more elaborate way, but yes, this was (probably) the main out-of-universe reason why Anakin did not appear…
A huge missed opportunity IMHO. It would really have been better if the people in charge did not rush to churn out the ST soon after buying Lucasfilm, but waited a couple of years to prepare everything. But I disgress…

I was just over the moon when I first heard this news break. It is big, big news.

We don’t really know how Christensen will fit into the Kenobi series. You know, do we really need him back especially to play a masked villian like Vader? Rogue One didn’t need him. We don’t fully know how he’s going to work, we’ve little to go on as of now.

With this show, however, Anakin is back, real back. No ambiguities whatsoever, as its set in the aftermath of Episode VI, with the character having been redeemed. We’ll either get him via force ghost, flashack or most likely, both. The force ghost will surely be much more elaborate that what we saw in the OT. This doesn’t sound like a small role.

This is very important. We’re going to see Ahsoka getting closure with her master. It doesn’t get any more emotional folks.
