‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’: rumors about Anchorhead, a flashback with Anakin as a Padawan and more

There has been a flurry of leaks about Obi-Wan Kenobi these last few days, and they all come from reliable sources. Here’s a recap.

Details on a flashback with Anakin Skywalker as a Padawan

According to MakingStarWars.net:

  • The first fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader in the series doesn’t go well for the Jedi.
  • In the fifth episode, after the fight, Obi-Wan meditates and searches for a way to defeat Vader. That’s when he has a flashback of a sparring session with Anakin in the Jedi Temple, shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
  • Obi-Wan is instructing his Padawan on lightsaber techniques. They’re sparring with their lightsabers. They trash talk and point out one another’s weaknesses. It’s a lighthearted scene.
  • This flashback reminds Obi-Wan what Anakin understood about his fighting technique. This allows him to figure out a strategy to outsmart Vader.
  • Later in the series, they have another fight and Obi-Wan wins.
  • Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are deaged in this flashback.
  • This is the main flashback of the series.

Anchorhead

According to StarWarsNewsNet, we will see Anchorhead in Obi-Wan Kenobi. That’s where Obi-Wan is going when we see him traveling on a transport in the teaser. You can see the Tatooine city from afar in this shot below. The series will show the big transport station in Anchorhead for the first time in canon. That’s probably where Obi-Wan finds a ship to leave Tatooine.

Details on three supporting roles

According to MakingStarWars.net:

  • O’Shea Jackson Jr plays a humanitarian of sorts. His character helps people persecuted by the Empire on Jabiim. He works in collaboration with Princess Leia.
  • The imperial officer played by Indira Varma is actually a good person who disagrees with what’s going on in the Empire.
  • Kumail Nanjiani’s character is a “Han Solo type”. He’s a point of contact for Obi-Wan. He seems to be just a scoundrel in the second episode. But later in the series, when he meets O’Shea Jackson Jr’s character (probably on Jabiim), we see another facet of him.

The Jawa thief

According to MakingStarWars.net:

  • On Tatooine, a female Jawa named “Teakah” or “Teekah” (the spelling is unknown) is always stealing Obi-Wan’s possessions and selling them back to him.
  • At one point, she sells him a T-16 Skyhopper toy that she found elsewhere. Obi-Wan wants to give it to Luke.
  • Obi-Wan leaves the toy on the Lars homestead knowing that Luke will find it. But Owen discovers it and puts it away.
  • Later, Owen and Obi-Wan have a scheduled meeting in Anchorhead. Owen tells Obi-Wan to stop bringing gifts to Luke.
  • This is probably the T-16 toy with which Luke plays in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
