Obi-Wan Kenobi

Rumor: Benny Safdie plays a Jedi named Nari in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

According to Bespin Bulletin, Benny Safdie (Pieces of a Woman, Licorice Pizza) is playing a surviving Jedi named Nari in Obi-Wan Kenobi. This site is very reliable; it was the first to reveal that Rupert Friend was playing the Grand Inquisitor, weeks before the teaser.

Bespin Bulletin also heard that Simone Kessell (Of Kings and Prophets) is playing Breha Organa, Leia’s adoptive mother. But in this case they’re not sure of it, so take it with a grain of salt.

Warning! The rest of this post is quite spoilery.

MakingStarWars.net had already published several leaks about Nari. He’s a surviving Jedi seeking out Obi-Wan on Tatooine, while being hunted by the Inquisitors. Nari eventually finds Obi-Wan, but the Jedi Master tells him to give up on the Jedi Order and to stay hidden. (Obi-Wan is actually talking to Nari at the beginning of the teaser). Desperate, Nari leaves Obi-Wan. Later, Obi-Wan sees his dead body put on display by the Inquisitors.

According to Bespin Bulletin, Nari is seen from behind in these two shots from the teaser. Before the confrontation, Reva, the Fifth Brother and the Grand Inquisitor shake down civilians to lure Nari out, and they enter the bar. That’s where the Grand Inquisitor makes his speech about the Jedi code that we hear in the teaser.
